MyParaGuide is the ultimative companion for all paraglider and hangglider pilots. It has information on more than 10,000 officially approved takeoff and landing sites in Europe and beyond. In addition, the guide finds interesting places in the vicinity of a flight area (campsites, restaurants, accommodation, etc.) and provides accurate local weather data.
In order for the pilot to assess whether a specific day can be flown in his targeted flight area, the app also offers an 8-day model weather and a special flight weather forecast.
Bassano is the undisputed mecca of the paragliding and hanggliding scene in the Southern Alps. Especially in the winter and early spring meets the scene. This is why during the winter half-year, especially on weekends. The thermal is interesting all year round and can be used for early morning flights. Despite the many pilots, the airline is spread along the slopes. Whoever goes on track always finds enough space. To the east it is relatively easy to reach the Piavetal. To the west, the Brentatal river must first be crossed. Then along the slope. Bassano is also used by flight schools for high altitude flight training. Information and meeting point of the pilots at the Montegrappa Airpark in Semonzo or in the hotel "Garden Relais". There is also the obligatory flycard (start and landing fee). The Airpark organizes low-priced driveways to the starting points. For hangglider pilots there is a short steep ramp. In Semonzo and around there are some accommodation possibilities. Especially popular is the Garden Relais Hotel, located directly on the Hangglider and Paraglider Training Grounds.
The Col Rodella site is one of the best known starting points in the Dolomites. Even in the autumn the rock towers can be exaggerated on good days. The Dolomites are impressive as well as challenging. The rocks are gigantic, but can also be quite turbulent. Therefore, the area is not for beginners when the thermals are bubbling. Starting point is below the mountain station. Access also via the Sellajoch on foot.
Algodonales is halfway between Málaga and Jerez de la Frontera. Both cities are fueled by Germany. 1.5 to 2 hours it is then still in the car until "Algo". Within an hour of driving you have eight starting places to choose from. The main flight area is the Mogote, the house just north of Algodonales, also known as Sierra de Lijar. Apart from the Montellano, it is the best starting point for regional flights in the region. The other airports on the map are El Bosque, Ronda la Vieja, Cañete la Real and Teba.
The first time in Castelluccio ... one thinks you are landed on another planet. The Piano Grande is probably one of the most impressive natural landscapes in the world. Gentle grasshills and obstacle-free landing areas invite you to play with the paraglider. This is where the wind is strong and so there are optimal conditions for optimizing the reverse starting technique or learning new. Endless soaring and thermal flights until late in the evening, followed by the legendary linens soup and a glass of red wine for dinner ... pure holiday in Umbria.
One of the top locations in Slovenia. The generous meadows starting at 1400 m MSL offers plenty of space. The soaring and thermal edge is unique. There are ideal conditions for those traveling by plane. The best fly far to Italy and cross the Tagliamento Valley north of Gemona / Udine. The large land square is located in Kobarid. Arriving by shuttle bus from the north. Observe infotainment. Start and landing fee at the club.
The Wallberg offers good flight conditions with wind from west to north with impressive scenery for soaring and thermal flights over Lake Tegernsee. With good flight weather is always a lot of flight operation. In the DHV-XC the Wallberg is often the starting point for long distances. Relatively frequent is the route to Kössen (Bodenschneid - Bayerischzell - Kufstein). At Nordwind one can also fly over the blue mountains to the Achensee and further into the Zillertal. For the latter flight, the base should be high, because one must fly over the forest in the blue mountains. HG ramps at the summit for the starting direction N, W, S. Dragons land at the Cafe Kreuz. Most important GS start at Kircherl (west of the mountain station). Alternative start at the alpine pasture (but it is especially turbulent in the afternoon). Dangerous lee situation at the east wind!
If you want to fly to the Col de la Forclaz you can either take the shuttle from the Landeplatz in Doussard, or you can take the legs from the second krache after the pass. In about 10 minutes is the sporty plane at the starting place. For kite pilots, the challenge is too big. For this reason, (and, of course, everyone else) can buy an access card at the town hall of vTalloires for a charge of 10 €, which is rechargeable and does not expire. Per trip will be charged 2.50 €.
